GeoSpace has developed and successfully implemented innovative fieldwork methods involving GIS, GPS and PDA technology to conduct socio-demographic surveys. This has enabled us to do surveys with an electronic questionnaire that is linked to a GPS coordinate. This improves sample realisation and the overall accuracy and control of a survey.

This approach is especially relevant in African countries where the majority of the population do not have formal addresses. Our biggest survey (28,000 questionnaires) has been a national survey on the impact of social grants on grant recipients in South Africa. Clients include the Department of Social Development (South Africa), The Human Sciences Research Council (South Africa) and local government. Read more.
